Division 9 Flooring Renovates Historic Seattle Church, Epiphany.

Epiphany Church has been a place of worship in Seattle for over 100 years. It opened in 1907 and moved from a storefront in Madrona, to the Denny Blaine neighborhood, where it stands today.  The women of the parish chose the name Epiphany. The church continued to grow and the chapel was built in 1911. It was designed by noted architect and parish member, Elsworth Storey. The chapel is considered an important part of Seattle history. In 1971, The Seattle chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Seattle Post Intelligencer named the chapel the most significant architecture in Seattle. King County Solid Waste Division has announced their list of 2015 Best Workplaces for Waste Prevention and Recycling. Division 9 Flooring is being honored with the Re-Innovator Award.

In a press release dated July 17th, 2015, King County Solid Waste  says Division 9 Flooring and the other companies on the list deserve to be singled out for their commitment to the environment. “These companies deserve special recognition for demonstrating their ingenuity and commitment in preventing waste. From composting in lunchrooms to reusing packing materials, they’re showing that sustainability can be simple and rewarding.” Continue reading…

Division 9 Flooring helps puts Yesler Terrace Redevelopment on the map.

Yesler Terrace in Seattle is getting some long overdue attention. According to Spectrum Development Solutions, the redevelopment of Yesler Terrace is the most ambitious neighborhood revitalization in Seattle history. The community was developed by the Seattle Housing Authority in the 1940’s as Seattle’s first publicly subsidized housing. It became evident that 580 housing units were beyond repair and needed replacing. A 290 million dollar renovation is under way that will add parks, renovated thoroughfares, pedestrian walking paths and energy efficient housing for all incomes. Continue reading…

After a 9 month closure, Ivar’s Acres of Clams on Elliott Bay opened it’s doors, appropriately enough, just before the 4th of July weekend.

Ivar’s is a Seattle institution. In 1938, Ivar Haglund opened an aquarium on the Seattle Waterfront. Ivar thought he’d try selling red clam chowder and fish and chips to the folks coming out to see the aquarium, and the rest is Seattle history. The restaurant and Ivar became well known to Seattleites over the years. Continue reading…
