Expedia and Division 9 Flooring – Partners in Sustainability.
Division 9 Flooring prides itself on sustainability. As a matter of fact, we are so passionate about the environment, we take it into consideration with every decision we make. Expedia shares our passion for sustainability. The Expedia building in Bellevue was the first newly constructed office building in Bellevue to receive LEED Gold Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) by the Green Building Certification Institute. The building was completed in 2008 and Expedia occupies 16 of the 20 floors with 3000 employees.
Expedia launched in 1996 as a online travel booking site. It introduced a new way of researching and booking travel. Expedia has since grown into the world’s leading online booking travel company. Expedia continually ranks high on the list for top companies to work for in the Puget Sound region. Expedia offers their customers “Green Travel”, making it easy to find eco friendly hotels and resorts.
Expedia recently announced they would be moving their headquarters from Bellevue to Seattle by the end of 2018. The Expedia Building is currently the largest technology company headquartered in Bellevue. A lack of Bellevue office space impacted the decision. The departure will certainly be felt, but Expedia will have waterfront headquarters in Seattle and the move will enable Expedia to expand their employee base.
In the meantime, Expedia will enjoy the results of their expansion project at their Bellevue headquarters. Division 9 Flooring was enlisted to install flooring on the 18th and 19th floors. Division 9 Flooring Senior Project Manager, Terry Hook, says the project was pretty straight forward and the results speak volumes.
