Filson World Headquarters

Why this project stands out:
Filson World Headquarters is just the kind of project Division 9 loves to perform on. With the usual cork flooring, carpet tile, linoleum, and glazed porcelain attributing to the finishes specified on this American-made outfitter’s new headquarters, we were committed to completing this project with sheer perfection, upholding the same standards that have caused Filson to be referred to as a Legacy of Quality*. When updated plans came out to install reclaimed wood with a custom stain from a barn currently standing** in Wenatchee we knew this partnership was fate. Our pledge to sustainable practice in the office and on the job site is sincere, and projects with this level of considerate material re-use are truly fascinating to be involved in.

DaVita

Why this project stands out:
The DaVita project was 150,000 square feet. Things got complicated when standing water was found under the old flooring. Moisture tests showed 99% RH, far above acceptable limits. To further complicate the job, the slab was poured in the rain and the original general contractor had to install underlayment over the entire first floor. Before construction could begin, we applied an epoxy moisture membrane and encapsulated it in self leveling underlayment to eliminate the moisture problem. Once that was complete, we were able to move forward. The outcome was very impressive and as always, the folks at Sellen were top notch and made the project go as smooth as possible.

Swinerton Builders

Why this project stands out:
Division 9 and Swinerton Builders have enjoyed a great working relationship for several years. We’ve had the privilege of working with Swinterton on many occasions – at least 40 this year alone. Swinerton has been around for over 100 years. When a company with that kind of track record singles you out to help build their own offices, you know you’re doing quality work. D9 and Swinerton have similar core values, including a commitment to the environment with LEED Certification support. The Swinerton new premiere office space was a true collaboration with clean lines and modern design. Our relationship with Swinerton and their trust in us speaks volumes.
"The relationship and trust we established is one that I wish I could achieve with all my sub-contractors. I know that the pricing I receive from this team is not only fair, but has been carefully thought through to insure there isn’t a better, more economical way to perform the task. The level of quality in the workmanship they provide is truly second to none."

Sunset Electric Apartments

Why this project stands out:
Sunset Electric is located on Capitol Hill in Seattle and is part of a preservation incentive program. The program allows developers to build an additional ten feet of height in exchange for keeping parts of the buildings original structure. The building was built in 1926 for the Sunset Electric Company. The irony of an electric company building being converted into a LEED Certified apartment complex is not lost on us. But the building was never an actual electric company. It supplied electric automobile equipment and eventually radios and appliances like refrigerators and washers and dryers. Electric cars and appliances were a new and novel concept at the time. The developers kept the original name and the Sunset Electric sign is a throwback to the buildings early days. The building is one of the first we’ve worked with that incorporated barn style doors into the new design. The layout with catwalks and an outside atrium were a challenge, but make the Sunset Electric Apartments unique.
"We use Division 9 Flooring on many of our projects because of their impressive track record, accountability, and team first approach. From the office staff to the field crews, they work diligently to surpass their clients’ needs and their projects’ goals. Due to strong relationships with local suppliers, and a vast knowledge of the industry, they are able to offer great products and service at a competitive price. We just completed the Sunset Electric project on Capitol Hill, with Division 9 supplying and installing all flooring and tile materials. The project was hugely successful, and the flooring has drawn high praise from the entire project team."

Virginia Mason

Why this project stands out:
The Virginia Mason Seattle project was unique. All of the Nora Environcare™ flooring seams were cold welded and 35% of the job (operating rooms) required dry fix tape to prevent loss of adhesion with heavy rolling loads. Division 9 Flooring is proud to be one of the few companies certified to do Nora Environcare™.
“The Division 9 team on the Virginia Mason Surgical Services project was team oriented. Their team’s flexibility and can-do attitude regarding the multiple phases of this project was key to its success.”

Trupanion

Why this project stands out:
Division 9 had the pleasure of taking care of Trupanion’s flooring needs for their new employee child care center. Trupanion is an employee’s dream — a company dedicated to providing medical insurance for dogs and cats. They even encourage employees to bring their pets (more than 200 of them) to work with them every day. And now, they provide employees free, onsite child care. Way to go, Trupanion!
"Trupanion recently remodeled to include an employee child care center in our building. Our construction company (Skanska) tore up the existing floor tiles, dug a trench to connect the sewer, and then reinstalled the tiles. Because the floor was pretty old, they suggested I call Division 9 to clean and wax the floors before I moved everything in. The Division 9 crew was exceptional and attentive to our needs. They even left some of their floor cleaner so we knew which brand of cleaner to use in the future to maintain our beautiful floors. Their office promptly scheduled our appointment and the friendly crew worked meticulously. Our floors look amazing — and now the babies have a shiny, “new” floor to crawl around on! Thank you, Division 9, we expect to employ your services again!"
